"Who is the man who fears the Lord?"

Blessed is the man who fears the LORD,

who finds great delight in his commands.

His children will be mighty in the land;

the generation of the upright will be blessed.

Wealth and riches are in his house,

and his righteousness endures forever.

~ Psalm 112:1-3

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, (Proverbs 1:7). The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is true understanding.

Our fear of the LORD is then based on our knowledge of His love, mercy, and goodness. It rests on the fact that God is our Heavenly Father and it is our desire to please Him. Our fear is healthy, good, respectful, and driven by our love for Him.

Joshua  24:14 tells us, “So fear the LORD and serve him wholeheartedly... Serve the LORD alone."

 Yare', pronounced yษ™·r·’ลซ, the Hebrew word Joshua used here for "fear," is found 3 times in the Bible. Strong's Exhaustive Concordance description of yare' includes:  affright, be make afraid, dreadful, put in fearful reverence.

God is to be held in reverence, venerated, worshipped, adored, honored, and admired profoundly and respectfully

To fear the Lord means that you are fully aware that He alone is in control of all things. It means that you realize that you are completely dependent on Him and Him alone.

Let's join in prayer.

Father,

We come into Your presence, with reverence and awe. We fear You lovingly with humble submission and respect. Instruct us, Father, and guide us in Your wisdom and Your ways. Give us the mind of Christ.

Help us to be that generation of the upright and blessed. We submit ourselves to You, Lord, and willingly climb onto Your Potter's wheel, to be molded into what You would have us to be, Lord.

Help us to bring You the honor and glory that You so richly deserve!

Thank You, Lord, IJN, Amen!
